Lutheran services began at RAF Feltwell under Chaplain Paul Sherouse. The average attendance in the first year was 25. The congregation quickly took up the challenge to provide a permanent Lutheran presence within Suffolk and Norfolk. Worship services have been held at both RAF Feltwell and RAF Lakenheath while preparations were made to move off-base.
The congregation started a special fund to facilitate this exciting mission. It also opened a partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England and developed a sister – congregation relationship with Resurrection Lutheran Congregation in Cambridge. |
2001 |
In 2001 the average attendance was 64.Chaplain Sherouse was transferred and the plan began in earnest to secure the congregation’s first resident pastor. During 2001 and 2002 the congregation was supported by the pastor of Resurrection (Cambridge) and theological students from Westfield House (Cambridge) while the infrastructure of parsonage, congregation organization and worship place were established. |
