Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Matthew 14:27-30
Greetings in the name of Jesus!
Just like Peter, we sometimes forget that it is safer for us to stay in the boat and wait for Jesus’ rescue than to venture out under our own steam. We forget the proverbial truth (Proverbs 12:25) that anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down and can cause our ship to run aground, but a good word – God’s Word – is uplifting. Now, that doesn’t mean necessarily that God will give us plain sailing, but that He gives us confidence to ride the waves and weather the storms of this life knowing that He who set us on our course will keep us safely in His ark and rule over the elements.
