“And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, ‘Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.’”Matthew 17:9
Greetings in the name of Jesus!
The high mountain, light like a blazing fire, the cloud and the voice saying “This is my beloved Son, listen to him,” makes it really hard to dismiss the fact that Jesus is the second person in the Trinity, Light of Light, very God of very God. Still, as He was coming down the mountain with His disciples, Jesus commanded them to tell no one about it until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.
Do you find this confusing?
Jesus always intended for His disciples to know who He really was, but He never wanted them to ignore or undermine the fact that He put on our flesh in order to take our sins upon Himself and away from us. Jesus didn’t want them to overlook the fact that He had become like us in every way – apart from sinning – to be the spotless Lamb of God who made Himself our scapegoat.
