Peace Be With You (Second Sunday of Easter)

12 April 2026

Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” John 20:24-25

Greetings in the name of Jesus! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!

The description of Thomas (which means twin) emerging from John’s Gospel is that of a sceptic, cynic man with a selective-hearing problem. But we must not be quick to criticize Thomas. Jesus wasn’t. No matter how little we may think of him for not believing his fellow apostles that Jesus rose from the dead, the Holy Scriptures also remind us that we are all twins Thomas him in unbelief. To put it briefly, doubting God leads to disobedience, disobedience is sin and sin seizes our spiritual brakes, keeping us from launching and flourishing in the life that comes from following Jesus.
